Prairiewood Retreat and Preserve

It takes a GPS or good written directions to find Prairiewood Retreat and Preserve, on the outskirts of Manhattan. Gravel and dirt roads traverse through a heavily treed landscape until the preserve becomes visible, beyond a renovated barn and atop a hill that offers breathtaking views of Kansas's native tallgrass prairie. The journey is worth the destination.
Enter a genteel country estate, full of broad windows, gorgeous upholstery, sumptuous leather,
and even a baby grand player piano. Calm and soothing characterize this retreat center from the moment you enter.
Amenities abound throughout beautiful bedrooms full of pillows and antique furnishings, and bathrooms with rich wood cabinetry and neutral-tone tile. This retreat feels more like a spacious personal home than a spot for small corporate gatherings. Then again, it's also a perfect place to host a family reunion or girlfriends getaway.
There's a huge, modern kitchen with every imaginable convenience, and a state-of-the-art business meeting room, including a flat screen television. And beyond these walls lies a stunning natural panorama, where short hikes lead to wildflower-strewn hilltops,
mirror-still ponds and breathtaking sunsets.
This is the very definition of retreat.
